Church: August Poetry Challenge

Linda’s August challenge is to write a poem of exactly 31 words. From her selection this week, I’ve chosen breath of fresh air. I wrote about the positive aspects of church community in a previous poem, but this is the flip side.

Church

A roomful of people;
Someone up the front, giving their opinion:
Unbidden tears come to the surface;
You feel exposed –
You’re trapped, wanting to escape,
Wanting a breath of fresh air.

  1. You can’t have love without truth, but truth needs love. ❤ Good write. Although I am a Christian and love going to church, I have had that experience of being unfairly judged by a church community.
